FAQ
What are lash extensions?
Lash extensions are false lashes adhered to your natural lashes with the goal of enhancing length, curl, and fullness.
Are lash extensions right for me?
Lash extensions are a luxury, high-maintenance service to help make your daily routine low-maintenance. Lash extensions require upkeep, including 2-3 week maintenance fills and daily cleaning/brushing. Lash extensions may not be right for people who do not want the extra maintenance, who are unable to regularly commit to lash maintenance fill appointments, who are unable to commit to daily cleaning, or who are unable to lie on their back for up to 4 hours. Lash extensions are also not recomended for those who apply to the following conditions or lifestyles: -Untreated epilepsy -Hormonal imbalances -Claustrophobia -Trichotillamania -Severely oily skin -Thyroid disorders -Recent eye surgery -Recent chemotherapy -Recent permanent makeup, such as eyeliner, within 4 weeks -Regular use of tanning beds or saunas -Stomach sleepers -Broken skin/open wounds around eye -Contagious eye infections (conjunctivitis) -Active styes -Alopecia -Suffer from severe seasonal allergies -Constant eye rubbing -Allergy to medical tape -Allergy to cyanoacrylate -Allergy to latex -Frequent heavy makeup wearers
What style of lashes should I get?
Your lash artist will take into account your eye shape, amount of natural lashes, natural lash curve, etc to build a set that is customized to your anatomy. However, you can start by selecting what fullness (classic, hybrid, volume, mega volume) you would like. The fuller your natural lashes, the fuller your set could be. Your lash artist will also take into account the health of your natural lashes, maintaining the health of your natural lashes is always the main priority.
Do lash extensions damage your natural lashes?
When done correctly by an experienced lash artist and when proper aftercare is followed by the client, lash extensions do not damage your natural lashes.
Why do I need to get a lash fill?
We naturally shed around 2-5 eyelashes a day. This means that your lash extensions will eventually fall out when your natural lashes shed. To avoid a sparse look, we recommend coming in for a lash fill every 2-3 weeks. For lash fills, we simply fill in the areas where your natural lashes have shed and remove any outgrown lashes, making your set full again. Your lashes may still look amazing at 3 weeks, however pushing a fill past 3 weeks will require a new full set. This is recommended to keep your natural lashes healthy. When your natural lashes grow out with an extension on them, they can start to droop due to the weight of the lash extension. The grown out lashes may twist and turn, which looks unfavorable. If these grown out lashes are not removed during your fill appointments, they can become so grown out and heavy that it damages the lash hair follicles.
What should I avoid with lash extensions?
After Your Lash Extension Appointment: -Do not get lashes wet for 24 hours after your appointment. -Avoid use of a spa, sauna, or pool 48 hours after your appointment. The extensions need that amount of time to properly bond. -If your lifestyle includes use of the sauna or pool frequently, please expect and understand the bond between the extension and natural lash will shock polymerize, becoming weaker and weaker each time. This chemical reaction is due to the extreme heat and humidity of the sauna and/ or the chemicals commonly found in pools. -Do not pull or rub lashes, this can cause damage to the hair follicle possibly leading to permanent damage. -Try your best not sleep on your lashes. Using a silk or satin pillowcase can help if you do often sleep on your sides / stomach. Sleeping on your back is best. If you sleep on one side more than the other, you may notice the lashes shedding quicker on that side because of the friction between the eye and pillow. -Use oil free products around your eye area. Heavy creams, lotions, or even the oil in our makeup near our eyes can loosen the bond between the extension and natural lash, causing them to shed quicker. -If you must use products with oils or tend to use more hydrating products due to your skin type, its extra important to wash your lashes to rid them of any oil or debris. -If a lash has turned upside down or sideways, use your lash wand to correct it. -Do not use an eyelash curler. -Do not perm or tint your lashes while you have extensions on. If you decide to switch to lash lifts and tints in the future but you still have lash extensions on, please book a removal and a lash lift and tint. -It is so important to cleanse your lashes daily to prevent oil and dirt buildup. This should be done using only the foaming lash cleanser provided or recommended to you by your lash artist. Do not use regular face wash, baby shampoo, or micellar water to clean them. Cleaning your lashes every day after that first 48 hours is super important to prevent lash mites, permanent damage, and premature shedding. -Do not use cotton pads, cotton balls, q tips near your extensions, the cotton fibers can get caught in the extensions and are difficult to remove. The cotton can also tug at the extensions causing them to fall out. -Brush lashes after every shower. -Avoid mascara or eyeliner to prolong your lashes, there are some extension safe mascaras out there to help you go between fills. Waterproof mascara is not lash extension safe, the only way to remove waterproof mascara is with oil. That being said, the set of lash extensions would also need to be fully removed to avoid retention issues. -Please do NOT remove your lash extensions yourself, I cannot stress this enough. This is extremely damaging to your natural lashes and can cause permanent damage to the natural lashes and even damage to the eye itself, It’s not worth it. Please come see us or another professional to get them removed safely, your eyes will thank you! -To extend the life of your lashes, schedule touch-ups every 2-3 weeks. -When the seasons are changing, our hair does shed faster at an increased rate. Spring and Fall are considered shedding seasons, you may notice your extensions are falling out faster during these times
How do I clean my lash extensions?
Squirt a pump of the foaming lash cleanser directly on the eyelid or on your soft bristle brush Focus the provided soft bristle brush at the base of the lashes in circular motions for about a minute on each eye to be sure the cleanser is getting at the base and between each lash extension Rinse the cleanser off with warm water, dry using towel or microfiber cloth It is optional to dry them with a fan or blow dryer (cool setting only), especially if you have hybrid or volume lashes this will help bring back that fluff.
Why do you not accept foreign fills?
We kindly require clients with existing lash extensions from a different establishment book a removal and full set. These two services may be scheduled together within the same day if time allows, or as two separate appointments if availability is limited. Our priority is preserving the integrity and health of the clients eyes and natural lashes. In strictly only working over our own work, that priority is ensured. This policy is to also ensure the appropriate curls, lengths, and diameters are used that best compliment the client in order to meet their lash goals.
